(Build up the sneeze slowly, then go BIG on AH-CHOO.)

Ellie the elephant woke up with a tickle in the trunk. “Ah… ah… AH-CHOO!” A huge sneeze blew all the leaves off the tree. “Oops!” said Ellie.

Ellie tried to hold in the next sneeze. “Ah… ah…” But this time it came out as a squeaky hiccup. Squeak! The monkeys laughed so hard they fell out of their tree.

The next sneeze blew a cloud of bubbles from the river. Pop, pop, pop! The animals clapped. “More, more!” they cried.

(Let your child do the next AH-CHOO.)

The next sneeze made a rainbow of flower petals dance through the air: pink, yellow and purple. Everyone gasped.

But then Ellie sneezed so hard that Ellie flew backwards into a big, soft mud puddle. SPLAT! Mud sprayed everywhere, and soon the whole jungle was brown and laughing.

A little parrot flapped down. “Time for a wash, Ellie!” Ellie filled the trunk with cool river water and sprayed it up high. Everyone was washed in a sparkling shower, and a tiny rainbow appeared in the mist.

The animals gathered by the river as the sun went down, yawning and happy. The tickle in the trunk was gone. The jungle was quiet, except for the frogs singing a soft evening song.

(Whisper “Goodnight!” with a giggle.)

Ellie curled up with the trunk on a pillow and fell asleep with a smile. And do you know what Ellie dreamed of? Feathers! Tickly, giggly feathers. Goodnight!

A little silliness can make everyone happy.
